Joe Spencer has made many changes to the basic LEU design... It is very difficult to make changes and come in light - great job, Joe... This is a partial list:
-o Triangulated landing gear with thickwall axle tubes.
-o Simplified rudder pedals and tailwheel.
-o Squared up front of windshield to keep wind off pilot's head - this is a change to consider.
-o Cut case Hummel engine by Scott Casler - 37 hp - 81 lbs without motor mount - no mag sticking thru the firewall.
-o Controls inside the cab with aileron cables on both wing struts.
-o Gas line routed thru the cab instead of next to the pilot's head - possible with the engine bottom mounted carb. Note location of fuel filter and lawnmower shutoff valve on lower right side of cab. Observe the clear tube fuel quantity site guage in the wing root rib.
-o In keeping with simple construction Joe did all graphics with an airbrush including the lettering cut from cardboard stencils.

Pictures enclosed of LEU #143 showing some of the changes I made - lightened some things, beefed up others... Empty weight came in 253# on calibrated (barbell weights) bathroom scales...
Main changes: Beefed up gear, lawn mower wheels (Northern Hydraulics), 8# each complete with air... .063 gear and lift strut fittings, controls moved into the cockpit... .025 chromemoly torque tube and control stick tower, Morry Hummel, (Scott Casler) 37 hp motor - very smooth, runs excellent on one slick mag (no battery weight)... Leaks the hell out of oil, numerous small changes...
Feel free to use pics on website if you like & will take calls if anyone has questions 662-226-2244...
First flight last month - I didn't record the day - wx so bad lately I haven't got but 5 hours on it... Very few bugs - minor tweaking of trim (put rodends on rear wing struts for this - excellent decision)... Have become comfortable that the engine isn't going to quit any minute - an absolute blast to fly - climb performance about like an old A75 powered Piper J5 with two up ( you have to see the wind and anticipate the down drafts and rotors)...
Have since added rabbit's foot to dash and fuzzy dice in top of windshield...
Thanks for all your help & taking my calls...
