WingStruts
August 9, 2002 - Jury Struts now required with round tubing wing struts...
July 02, 2013
Flyer's have observed less flexing of the fuselage as well as protecting the
wing from negative G's on both kinds of struts...

Leonard has a streamline strut on both the Legal Eagle and the Double Eagle now July 2001...
Leonard says:
"I just got through test flying the Legal Eagle with the new 2" streamlined struts and boy what a difference - its really noticeable the increase in speed. I couldn't hardly believe it - they are available from Mrs. Carlson. Her address is P.O. box 88 East Palestine OH. phone 330 426 3934. I have some for the Double Eagle also - they are easy to put on and look good too." Leonard

Hi Guys;
Sorry, I thought you were talking about the round struts ?? The streamlined struts are easy to install - just fit the struts on the plane with only one bolt in the streamlined part. Then move the billet alum. piece till it lines up and drill the other hole while it is on the plane. In fact, do the front struts this way too as to make up for any slight misalignment. Leonard
ED Note: Believe me, this is a whole lot simpler than the tube struts... If you have the round material consider making a bunch of 1/2 VW heads with it which require the 1 - 1/4" 6061 -T6 tube!...
We are using the plans version of the struts and would use the streamline struts if building again - those steel tube ends are tedious to make and fit...
To set the 3" dihedral on each side of the airplane we used an inexpensive laser level from Harbor Freight mounted on a camera tripod...
The nylon rope support through the rafters was easy to adjust...
Later we learned a better way to jig the wing roots up...
We put an Alum shoulder bushing in the aileron bellcranks and would use bellcrank bearings here in the future... The control rod is surplus from the aerospace industry during the cold war... The rod itself is titanium and the machining on the ends is extraordinary... Thanks Roman, for planning ahead!
Mike Pastor made the nylon aileron cable guides...
This cable guide can be pop riveted on or clamped as seen in the next photo...
